Rare 18th Century French wash stand

Rare 18th Century French wash stand. In the 18th Century water was only available outside, the top lead container would have been filled up by the housekeeper to be used for drinking water / to wash with in the home. This fabulous model would of been found in a castle. While there is cosmetic age related wear to the front of the water container the bowl is complete, both the original lead pieces are a true survivor and it still retains the original plug. The lead pieces are removable from the wooden frame and the water container has the original hook on the back that sits securely on the stand. The paint is later. A fantastic decorative original piece for the home. Not suitable for water now. It would look lovely in a bathroom / hallway.
